TrueColor Confocal Technology
iCare’s unique TrueColor Confocal Technology combines the benefits of confocality and white LED light source bringing together high image quality and true-to-life colors. Thanks to these features the iCare fundus imaging systems provide the eyecare practitioners with more authentic perception of retinal anatomy, displaying the smallest of details that can help in the detection, diagnosis and follow-up of pathologies.
Enhanced image quality
The TrueColor Confocal Technology used in iCare’s DRSplus and EIDON Family imaging systems enables acquisition of finely detailed retina images even in difficult imaging conditions. Thanks to this unique combination of confocality and white LED light it is possible to acquire sharp and clear color images even through cataract and other opacities as the scattered light or light reflected by structures different from the retina is suppressed. iCare’s non-mydriatic DRSplus and EIDON Family also enable imaging through as small pupils as 2.5 mm. When patients don’t need to be dilated, the workflow is quicker, smoother and more comfortable for patients too.
Clarity and true colors
Conventional imaging solutions don't combine clarity and sharpness of the images with high color fidelity. Conventional fundus cameras capture color retinal images but their quality is affected by opacities and small pupils. This results in a retinal image that typically looks flat, and with overall lower resolution and contrast than what can be achieved with a confocal optical engine. The monochromatic lasers used in standard SLO systems, thanks to confocality, can provide high sharpness and contrast images, but they can't capture the retina in its true colors. The advantage of TrueColor Confocal Technology compared to traditional fundus imaging is the enhanced color fidelity and higher image-quality, in terms of contrast and resolution.
