iCare MAIA TrueColor Microperimetry System

iCare MAIA® offers the best in mesopic confocal microperimetry, combining visual sensitivity analysis, fixation loss correction by a real-time retinal tracker and non-mydriatic confocal infrared and TrueColor fundus imaging, all in one exam. iCare MAIA detects and monitors functional changes of the retina with great reliability. The system integrated in the new generation of iCare MAIA is fully compatible with the previous generation in terms of exam parameters, test outcomes and data format.

iCare MAIA performs different types of pre-programmed and customizable microperimetry tests as well as follow-up exams to monitor functional progression. The retinal tracker allows for accurate, real-time, calculation and compensation for eye movements. iCare MAIA is patient friendly, automated, easy to use, and non-mydriatic.

Microperimetry with an enhanced functional and structural correlation

Microperimetry provides concurrent analysis of structural and functional aspects of the retina. It combines retinal sensitivity mapping, fixation analysis and fundus imaging in one exam, as a powerful tool to detect and describe pathologies affecting the macular area. iCare MAIA’s follow-up functionality allows users to accurately retest the same retinal locations at subsequent examinations, preserving the structure-function correlation over time and enabling accurate assessment of pathology progression.

iCare MAIA performs different types of microperimetry tests with supra and full-threshold strategies and follow-up tests to monitor functional progression. Each exam provides a measure of retinal sensitivity and fixation analysis (stability and position of the Preferred Retinal Locus).

Fixation analysis for better diagnosis and vision

iCare MAIA provides accurate and objective information regarding retinal location and stability of a patient’s fixation. Parameters are assessed by tracking eye movements and plotting the resulting distribution over the fundus image. iCare MAIA can project multiple fixation targets at selectable locations to help patients find the target during the test. The fixation test can also be done separately and takes only seconds.

iCare MAIA offers the best in confocal microperimetry

iCare MAIA performs different types of pre-programmed and customizable microperimetry tests as well as follow-up exams to monitor functional progression over a 60° fundus image. The 25Hz active retinal tracker allows for accurate, real-time, calculation and compensation of eye movements.

iCare MAIA is sensitive to functional changes due to macular pathologies or treatments with its mesopic tests having a 4 asb background and a 36 dB threshold range. Patients with mild cataracts and media opacities can be examined.

Ergonomics and experience

iCare MAIA offers significant ergonomic advantages over the previous model in terms of easy interaction between the operator, the patient and the device. The workflow is smooth thanks to the new auto-alignment, intuitive user interface, onboard grid editor, and the large touch screen monitor that can be placed in many positions around the device. The use of dilating drops is not required, refraction errors from -12D to +15D are automatically corrected, the device has an automatic OD/OS recognition and an alarm that advises the operator when the patient is not properly following the test. The confocal infrared and TrueColor imaging with a 60° field of view confirms a great experience.
