General Information: Why use iCare probes for iCare tonometers

  • Accuracy and Reliability:

iCare probes are specifically designed and validated to work with iCare tonometers, ensuring accurate and repeatable intraocular pressure (IOP) measurements.

  • Optimized Design:

The probes are lightweight, compact, and feature a gold-plated metal wire with a medical-grade plastic tip. This design ensures efficient, accurate, and painless measurements.

  • Hygiene and Safety:

    • iCare probes are single-use and individually packed, minimizing the risk of cross-contamination and infection.
    • They are manufactured in a controlled, clean environment to meet stringent hygiene standards.
  • Ease of Use:

The probes are easy to insert and remove from the tonometer, and the device automatically secures them in place.

Using iCare Probes

  • Tips for maintenance of probe base:

The probe base in iCare rebound tonometers is essential for holding the probe in place during intraocular pressure (IOP) measurements. It ensures the probe is correctly positioned and ready for use.

  • Replacement:

Replace the probe base at least every 6 months to maintain accuracy. Regular replacement helps prevent the buildup of dust and debris, ensuring consistent performance. Additionally, replace the probe base if the change error message keeps recurring.

  • Use a Probe Base Cover:

It is advisable to use a probe base cover when cleaning the tonometer to protect the probe base from cleaning substances. Proper maintenance of the probe base is crucial for the optimal functioning of iCare rebound tonometers. By following these simple tips, you can ensure that your tonometer provides accurate and reliable measurements.

  • Replacing The Probe Base:

    1. Turn power off from the tonometer.
    2. By hand, unscrew the probe base collar and place it in a safe location.
    3. Pull the probe base out of the tonometer using thumb and fingers.
    4. Insert a new probe base into the tonometer.
    5. Screw the collar down until it firmly locks the probe base.

Important!

Handle the tonometer carefully and store it properly to avoid introducing foreign materials to the probe base.

Probe base light in iCare rebound tonometers

  • How to Use the Probe Base Light:

    Positioning:

    • Ensure the tonometer is held horizontally and perpendicular to the center of the cornea.
    • The distance from the tip of the probe to the cornea should be between 4-8 mm

    Light Indicators:

    • Green Light: Indicates the correct measuring position. You can proceed with the measurement.
    • Red Light: Indicates the tonometer is tilted too much or not positioned correctly. Adjust the tonometer until the light turns green.

    Measurement Process:

    • Once the green light is visible, press the measurement button to collect readings.
    • The device will give sound signals to indicate successful measurements
  • Why to Use the Probe Base Light:

    Ensures Correct Positioning:

    • The probe base light helps you position the tonometer accurately, which is essential for obtaining reliable IOP readings

    Reduces Measurement Errors:

    • By indicating the correct position, the light minimizes the risk of errors due to improper alignment or tilting

    Improves User Experience:

    • The visual cue simplifies the measurement process, making it easier for both professionals and patients to use the device effectively

Important!

Using the probe base light is crucial for ensuring accurate intraocular pressure (IOP) measurements with your iCare tonometer.
